How did I enjoy alongside a tough study period in UK?

Hi there, this is just an example of a few things for a student, who may experience a tough study routine of studies in UK; to find time and enjoy. Making the decision top study at the University of Sheffield in one of the best departments of the UK i.e. Civil and Structural Engineering has been an amazing experience of my life, but when I came here I came to know that the study routine was quite difficult compared to my expectations. Now I had to decide that what I can do to keep my mind fresh and also enjoy during my study period in the UK. Here are some things I did;
Always had a look at my email-Focus Groups:
I always used to get a lot of information from the University Emails and I was also notified about the events going on in the University. Many times I had a chance to participate in focus groups where I had to share my experiences as an international student and give some views regarding the university services and how they can improve. I found this really fascinating and often used to sign up for these since it have me a chance to meet other students and share my views.
University of Sheffield-Global Campus:
I had took good care of joining all the University of Sheffield Facebook pages since they gave the information about the events I can attend at the University. I used to attend One World Café and History Walks organized by the University of Sheffield’s Global Campus which not only allowed me to have interesting discussions with my fellow university students but also see the beauty and history of Sheffield. I thoroughly enjoyed all these events. I also went for a badminton session organized during the winter vacation which made me realize that I am not alone during this cold vacation period!
Visits to the Student’s Union:
Student’s Union actually offers something for every person of the university. Hence I used to just occasionally visit the union and often used to find out some events going on such as games or food stalls or even money week by guessing the hidden prices. I found these events really lovely and they gave me a chance to know what my university is doing for the betterment and entertainment of its students.
I guess I have made you read a lot, but these are some of the things I used to do outside of my studies and enjoyed each one of them. I hope you will try them too whichever university you choose!
That is it for now.
Best Wishes
