Doing a job is the necessity of every person and it is highly unlikely that we are not to work for a boss in our lives. Whether in Pakistan or rest of the world, bosses always make the highlight of your conversations among friends or with family. While it is good to work for a certain type of boss, it can be suffocating to work for the other type. Some of the boss types you might come across can be;
The Kharoos One:
This type of boss is normally quite old aged. Some of the specifics can be described as;
Age: 50+
Eyes: Covered with glasses
Tone: Loud or Strict
Environment: Pin Drop Silence when the boss enters and everybody is found indulged tirelessly in work
This is the kind of boss who is going to find out flaws in everything you do. When you are late once in a whole month, he is going to give you a lecture on the importance of time regardless of the fact of himself coming late every day. He will yell at you when he is losing an argument and that will often make you stop talking and wanting to kill him at the same time. Although such a boss is hard to work under, but he is the type of boss you will learn the most by working under him. Working under such a boss can help you understand the importance of handling pressure and patience in extreme situations.
The “Easy Go Lucky” One:
This is the type of boss people enjoy working with. Here is a brief description;
Status: Has a lot of money, is probably managing the father’s business and makes sure he looks rich
Age: 35-45
Tone: Relaxed (may include lame jokes while talking)
Environment: Everybody at office begins acting cool in his presence! :-/
This is the boss often described as a chill one. Quite possibly because he already has a lot of money and does not really care if the business is boosting or is at a minor loss. He normally has no idea about what kind of duties to assign a new person but appreciates if you are your own boss and help him achieve something for the company. He is often found confused in a horrifying situation and may panic for no reason. Such bosses are happy if you speak a lot of English, dress up nicely and keep on giving him suggestions about improving the business. You might like working for such a boss but working under him may make you a lazy person who “Looks Busy Does Nothing”.

The one who does nothing!
This is the type of boss which are probably the most common in Pakistan. Yes, they don’t do anything and make sure that everybody under them is working their pajamas off to survive in the company. They do not really have any general description, they can be old, young, male or female but you get a quick idea that they are doing nothing for the company. Often found ordering tea or coffee or randomly assigning you a work, your JD (Job Description) has nothing to do with. Such bosses are probably most difficult to work with but can surely make you trained enough to start your own company in future.
The one who hails “Favoritsm”!
Oh yeah another common boss type. This type of boss can be of friendly nature. They may explain you things when not needed only to make you realize that he is on your side. But then you begin to realize his liking for certain senior members or girls in your office because he always gives you their example in an attempt to improve yourself. You then realize that he is the one who loves flattering and will favour some people only because they know how to keep him happy. Such bosses are the annoying type and you can survive under him happily only if you know what triggers him to like you! E.g. a box of sweets on your birthday or complimenting him/her even when he looks worse than usual 😀
I can surely say that some of the qualities of bosses described here exist in your current boss. Don’t worry, we all face this and turn out alright!
My wish for you: “May the odds be in your favour!”
Best Regards
