Lahore is a historical city of Pakistan and has a huge importance because of the presence of Mughal architecture in the form of massive buildings that exist with pride for more than 300 years. Although the city is immensely popular for its food and culture, yet the historical buildings often get the attention of tourists. One of these buildings is the Lahore Fort and here are few compelling reasons for you to visit it;

It is located near the major historical buildings of the city:
The location of the building is ideal for tourism as many other historical buildings of the Mughal era can be seen in the vicinity such as Badshahi Mosque, Tomb of popular local poet Allama Iqbal and other buildings made by the rulers of the Mughal era. You can experience the lifestyle of people in the Mughal period by wandering around the streets where there are bazaars for shopping and the streets are laid giving a clear picture of a Royal neighborhood. You can even enjoy the delicious food of Food Street located on the back side of Badshahi Mosque once you are tired.
It is Majestic:
I absolutely love to witness the buildings which are huge and Lahore Fort is a perfect example of a massive building. While you enter the building, you can feel yourself as tiny humans in comparison to even the entrance of the building. All the rooms, walls and halls are big and represent that the Kings of that time loved a royal living style where there is a depiction of power and grandeur. It is even better to have a guide with you who can tell you the stories of Kings and Queens and the reason why each hall was built.

It has giant elephant steps and a giant well:
That’s right. As you can see in the picture, there are giant elephant steps which were built because the rulers used to keep elephants for moving within the city. Although no elephants walk through these steps now, but it is truly amazing when you see these steps and try to walk on them as a tiny human. There is a huge well in the area too for which I am not telling you the exact location. It is for you to find out where it is when you come here.
Perfect example of a comfortable building:
A remarkable feature of this building is the fact that it is cool when you go inside even in scorching heat of Lahore where the outside temperature can be as high as 45 degree Celsius. This is because the architects of that era were intelligent enough to use the concept of thermal mass and fountains for drawing natural ventilation to rooms inside. You can visit the fountains and see that many of these pass through the corridors. Also the window openings and their sizes allow air flow even in hot weather, showing that scientific principles now used in designing buildings were in use about 300 years before as well.

That is it for now and I will leave you to explore the building when you come here. Believe me! You won’t be disappointed by what this place has to offer!
