University of Sheffield has some amazing buildings: An intro of some!

My time as a student at University of Sheffield was a great one and often when I remember the University, I cannot skip some of the great buildings it has. The University of Sheffield is not enclosed within boundary walls, rather the departments are scattered close to each other but they are included in the normal city life. Here I am presenting you my view points about some of the buildings of the University, which I really liked and spent the most time in and around!

Sir Frederick Mappin Building:

Sir Frederick Mappin Building
This is the Engineering Department comprising of Civil and Structural Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and is the building where I used to spend my time taking lectures of most modules. I absolutely loved the Mappin Building; which used to seem like a puzzle for me in the beginning; as I am not good with remembering directions. This is because the building is massive and has many corridors, despite having 3 floors and a basement. I will not forget to mention (being an Architectural Engineering student) that the building despite being old, was very comfortable and well maintained. The department overall used to be very quiet mostly but perfect for a learning experience.
Western Bank Library:

Without any doubt, the quietest library of the University, small and sweet. But it has large resources of books, especially Architecture, as it is right next to Arts Tower (Architecture Students Building). Also there are open spaces for silent study, with beautiful views of the Weston Park. It has limited number of computers but best for people who want to study alone in a peaceful environment. As a library space, it was my personal choice!
Arts Tower and Western Bank Library
The Arts Tower:

Just beside the Western Bank Library, it has to be my favorite building throughout the University. It is the tallest UK University building, inaugurated by the Queen herself in about 1960 and has around 18 floors. It is quite easy to find as there is no other tall building in the surroundings and thus you can have amazing views of the city Sheffield as you reach the higher floors. Additionally, it has a paternoster lift which is an attraction itself and often students come to try its riding experience; as it is definitely unique. Overall, a comfortable building indeed mostly used by Architecture students.
Information Commons(IC):
Information Commons: Tada!! One of the two libraries which is open 24/7, no matter what. You can use it any time you want, since it has the maximum number of computers, group study rooms, a café below, and many other individual spaces. It is normally the hub of University students, crazy in exam times and coursework submission times of the year. However, not very quiet for people like me who want extreme silence while studying. Anyway it is the famous copper building which looks spectacular at night!
There are many other iconic buildings of the University such as a diamond lookalike Diamond building, Red Brick Building or Firth Court and a speaker shaped building for Music studies; I would leave you to explore these and rest.
Hope you have enjoyed reading this blog.
