A great comeback to Student Life: My experience at University of Sheffield!

Student life is always fun but the experience can be for a lifetime if you study at an International University. My experience at the University of Sheffield was definitely brilliant and will stay with me for the rest of my life. Here are some of the things that had a positive impact towards a beautiful journey at Sheffield;
The welcoming atmosphere of the University!

Not only the University is beautiful but the people inside are nice and welcoming too. I remember being late to start my Masters for about 5 days and everybody was so nice and supportive. My registration was easily done and I quickly covered my coursework because the staff and teachers at my department were really helpful. Initially it was difficult for me, being new in the city and the country, but the feeling of an alien was gone quickly. I remember walking into a random university building to ask about the directions or support services and was always guided open heatedly.

Student’s Union:

Student’s Union, University of Sheffield, UK
 One might have heard that the Students Union of university of Sheffield is number 1 in the UK, but what really appealed to me about the Students Union was that it was always available for students from different type of interests or even for those who are not members of any society. I, being a Masters student did not really have time to join a society but I used to pay regular visits to the Union to enjoy and participate in the events going on such as Give it a Go sessions, participating in a competition about guessing the price of items in a basket etc. I also benefited from Student’s Advice Center in regards to a personal issue and I felt supported by my university. Its events like these which make a student’s experience positive and memorable.
The city Sheffield!

Coming late at night in Sheffield and getting help from a stranger in dragging my luggage back out of the train station was the first positive experience I had in Sheffield. Very friendly people, beautiful city with many green areas, and peaceful and less crowded from a student’s perspective. I remember being in Sheffield during the vacation period but I really enjoyed because of the events organized at City Center during the Christmas period. The city is perfect for students and gives you many opportunities for networking or enjoyment. The only issue for me was the fact that walking in the city is pretty much equal to climbing and that it can be very cold at times for an outsider, but I am glad I was able to cope well with that.

An international experience!
Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the University and there were many other things I will always remember such as living an independent life away from home, meeting with so many international people from all over the world and being friends with them which makes the University international. I definitely hope to be back some time in future since I guess one year was not enough to explore and enjoy the university life here completely.
